The Origin of UYOUNG

The name “UYOUNG” finds its roots in the names of the couple who are the cafe’s clients. This bright and evocative name perfectly complements the essence of UYOUNG cafe, known for its Japanese desserts like flower snacks, yanggangs, and rice desserts. The name itself sparks excitement, reflecting the initial meeting and the desire to create an authentic space that encapsulates the sincerity of the clients.

Artistry in Wagashi

Wagashi, the Japanese confectionery served at UYOUNG, embodies meticulous craftsmanship and dedication. Each confectionery item reflects the laborious processes involved, resonating with the saying that “the first taste is enjoyed with the eyes, and the last taste is enjoyed with the tongue.” DEEF aimed to capture this essence by designing a space that harmonizes with UYOUNG’s menu, creating a serene Kyoto-style ambiance where patrons can savor Japanese desserts and tea.

Crafting a Tranquil Atmosphere

The challenge lay in transforming a space that initially lacked depth into a place of tranquility and aesthetic richness. Natural stones were sourced from a stone mountain and incorporated into the design to create a foundation-like feel. The integration of thick wooden tones, subtle textures, and carefully curated aesthetics evoked the quiet elegance of Kyoto. Stainless steel accents, inspired by the embossed logo, added a touch of modernity while maintaining the cafe’s identity.

A Blend of Modern and Traditional

The design journey for UYOUNG cafe was about merging traditional Japanese elements with contemporary aesthetics. Through meticulous attention to detail, from the choice of materials to the layout, DEEF crafted a space where patrons could escape the hustle of daily life and find moments of tranquility. The hope is that everyone who steps into UYOUNG, including the clients themselves, experiences a sense of calmness within its serene confines.
