Bengaluru-based startup Revos recently announced its plan to raise $4 million to deploy one million electric vehicle (EV) chargers across 500 cities over the next three years. This ambitious initiative aims to tap into expansion opportunities not only in India but also in other emerging markets.

The Journey So Far

Established just two years ago in 2019, Revos has already installed over 10,000 devices, primarily focusing on electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler chargers. These installations span across 30 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in countries like India, China, Vietnam, Nepal, and Egypt.

Funding and Expansion

The Series A funding round of Revos saw participation from US-based Union Square Ventures (USV) and Bengaluru-based Prime Venture Partners (PVP). This marks Union Square Ventures’ inaugural investment in India and Prime Venture Partners’ maiden venture into the EV sector. The capital raised will facilitate the deployment of EV charging infrastructure nationwide and bolster the technology team through strategic hires.

Vision and Innovation

Revos, founded in 2017 by Jyotiranjan Harichandan and Mohit Yadav, aims not only to establish the largest charging infrastructure for EVs but also to develop a world-class operating software (OS) to enhance the intelligence and connectivity of EVs. The company’s name, Revos, stands for Revolutionary EV Operating Stack, reflecting its commitment to innovation.

Operating System for EVs

Revos has developed an AI-integrated platform that enables communication among EVs, facilitating features such as on-bike navigation, diagnostics, smart alerts, and anti-theft lock. This operating system serves as the foundation for creating smart, safe, and connected EVs. It is likened to an ‘Android for EVs,’ empowering manufacturers to integrate advanced mobility features into their vehicles.

Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Charging

In addition to its core charging infrastructure, Revos is pioneering a peer-to-peer (P2P) charging network named Bolt. Compatible with any portable EV charger, Bolt leverages existing AC power supplies at homes and establishments. This initiative aims to democratize EV technology and empower individuals to participate in building the charging network.

Future Outlook

Yadav, the co-founder of Revos, emphasized the significance of the fundraising efforts in democratizing EV technology and expanding the P2P charging network. With a focus on innovation and accessibility, Revos is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of electric mobility, making smart EVs accessible to all.
