In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gina Carano opened up about her departure from “The Mandalorian” and how co-star Pedro Pascal attempted to support her during the online backlash she faced. Here’s a breakdown of her revelations:

Pedro Pascal’s Supportive Gesture

Carano revealed that Pedro Pascal, who plays the lead role in “The Mandalorian,” reached out to her during the height of the backlash. According to Carano, Pascal suggested a simple solution: “Just put #transrights in your feed. Do it and they’ll leave you alone.” However, Carano explained that such a gesture didn’t align with her personal style.

Controversial Comments and Consequences

The backlash against Carano began in September 2020 when she inserted “boop/bop/beep” in her Twitter bio in response to requests from fans to show support for the transgender community. This move was met with heavy criticism. Subsequently, in February 2021, Carano was fired from “The Mandalorian” after sharing a post that equated being a Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust. Her planned “Star Wars” spin-off, “Rangers of the New Republic,” was also canceled later in November 2021.

Legal Action Against Disney

Currently, Carano is involved in legal proceedings against Disney, alleging wrongful termination from the “Star Wars” franchise. She is working with Elon Musk’s X in this endeavor.

Relationship with Pedro Pascal

Despite the controversies, Carano emphasized her close relationship with Pedro Pascal, mentioning that they became even closer after working together on “The Mandalorian.” She recounted a heartfelt conversation they had following the passing of their co-star, Carl Weathers, in February 2024.

Final Thoughts

Carano expressed her gratitude towards Pascal for his support and clarified that she harbors no homophobic or transphobic sentiments. She recalled Pascal’s acknowledgment of her and Carl Weathers as “protectors,” indicating a deep bond between them.

While representatives for Pedro Pascal declined to comment on the matter, Carano’s revelations shed light on the complexities of navigating online backlash and maintaining personal integrity in the face of criticism.
