The Original Feelings Yoga Studio, designed by Some Place Studio, embodies the concept of flow, a fundamental aspect of yoga practice that denotes fluid movement and meditation. The studio’s design emphasizes seamless transitions between spaces and incorporates malleable materials like fabrics and hempcrete to evoke a sense of flow throughout.

Muted Palette and Collaborative Artwork

Upon entering the studio, visitors encounter a spacious reception area featuring a central desk that also serves as an occasional bar. A reconfigurable sofa follows the gentle curve of a large screen, serving as both seating and a space divider. Positioned adjacent to a water fountain, the reception area encourages mindfulness and hygiene practices before proceeding into the practice rooms.

Collaborating with emerging artists, the studio employs a muted color palette that accentuates materiality and texture. Yasmin Bawa contributed to the design by crafting the front desk and water fountain using a custom hempcrete structure finished with pigmented lime plaster, creating captivating surface textures. Additionally, Viennese artist Denise Rudolf Frank painted a large-scale privacy screen, adding an artistic touch to the lounge area and changing rooms.

Resilience Amidst the Pandemic

Constructed amidst the global pandemic, the Original Feelings Yoga Studio prioritizes personal space, ventilation, and safety protocols. Rather than viewing constraints as limitations, the design team saw them as opportunities to create a resilient space that transcends the current crisis. The studio aims to provide a welcoming environment where yogis and guests can feel comfortable and find their flow, fostering a sense of tranquility and mindfulness in a tumultuous world.
