Crafting Comfort: Prospine Clinic by URBANODE Arquitetura

In the endeavor to create a welcoming and functional healthcare space, URBANODE Arquitetura embarked on the design journey of the Prospine Clinic, focusing on simplicity and practicality. The project’s primary objective was to accommodate the main treatment room, equipped with a table, stretcher, and exercise area, alongside a well-insulated waiting room, all while ensuring efficient compartmentalization of spaces.

Spatial Optimization and Natural Light

To optimize spatial utilization and enhance natural light infiltration, the architects extended the waiting room from the entrance, strategically reaching the limit for the projected receptionist’s table. Embracing the existing ‘L’ shape of the main space, they curved the dividing wall, fostering a more open and illuminated environment. This design intervention not only augmented functionality but also added visual interest, complementing the clinic’s aesthetic appeal.

Innovative Design Solutions

In response to the client’s preference against plasterboard lining in the main room, the architects proposed curving the wall to align with the ribbed slab’s lines, imbuing the space with architectural richness and texture. Addressing the need for a washbasin in the service room posed another challenge, prompting the integration of the facility into the existing infrastructure. Leveraging the proximity to the building’s sewerage, the lavatory was strategically positioned, concealed within the reception furniture to optimize space without compromising functionality.

Functional Elegance and Comfort

The reception furniture, featuring a curved design, not only conceals the service facilities but also enhances spatial flow and user experience. The angular opening of the furniture ensures functionality while welcoming patients to the reception area. A subtle yet impactful touch of blue color in the waiting room creates a soothing ambiance, contributing to patient comfort and relaxation. From the main room’s perspective, the blue volume beneath the ribbed slab appears as an internal attachment, harmonizing with the clinic’s overall design language.
