Architectural Vision

YOKONAGAYA Beauty Salon, situated along a bustling main road in Osaka City, embodies the essence of street architecture. Originally farmland divided for urban development, the site’s unique triangular shape and extensive frontage make it an ideal location for business endeavors.

Embracing Urban Diversity

Historically, the area housed a greengrocer and a takoyaki shop in makeshift tents, creating a vibrant microcosm akin to a miniature shopping street. However, with changing times, the site fell into disuse and became a vacant lot plagued by illegal dumping and graffiti-covered tin walls.

Revitalizing Urban Spaces

The project aimed to rejuvenate the site with the establishment of a beauty salon. The design incorporated a spacious beauty salon on the west side, a multi-purpose eaves space, and a rental office. The absence of a dividing wall on the short side encourages visual connectivity between the spaces, fostering a sense of openness and interaction.

Integrating Local Culture

A key addition to the project was a drink stand offering mixed juices, embracing the diversity of the local community. This integration of local culture and amenities not only enhances the functionality of the space but also creates a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
