Introducing Tata Punch EV: India’s Most Affordable Electric SUV

Tata Motors has unveiled its latest electric offering in India, the Tata Punch EV, marking its entry into the electric SUV segment. Following the success of the Nexon EV, Tata Motors aims to capture a broader market with the launch of the Punch EV, which inherits design elements from its predecessor while offering several enhancements.

Price and Competition

Positioned below the Nexon EV, the Tata Punch EV emerges as India’s most budget-friendly electric SUV. With a starting price of ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Smart variant and ₹14.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end Empowered+ LR variant, the Punch EV competes with rivals such as the MG Comet and Citroen E-C3 electric cars.

Variants and Battery Options

The Tata Punch EV is available in two battery configurations: Standard and Long Range. The Standard variant offers five trims, while the Long Range variant comes in three variants, offering a total of eight options to consumers.

Battery Pack and Range

Equipped with either a 25kWh or 35kWh battery pack, the Punch EV delivers impressive ARAI certified ranges of 315 km and 421 km, respectively. This ensures ample range for urban commutes and long journeys alike, enhancing the vehicle’s practicality and appeal.

Performance

The Punch EV delivers robust performance, with the Standard variant featuring an 82hp power motor and the Long Range variant boasting a more potent 122hp motor. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is swift, taking just 13.5 seconds for the Standard variant and 9.5 seconds for the Long Range variant.

Features and Interior

Inside the Punch EV, drivers are greeted with dual 10.25-inch infotainment and digital instrument display screens, reminiscent of the premium interior found in the Nexon EV. The vehicle offers a range of comfort and convenience features, including ventilated seats, air purifier, sunroof, wireless charger, and automatic climate control.

Safety

Safety remains a top priority for Tata Motors, reflected in the Punch EV’s comprehensive safety suite. Standard features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, blind spot mirror, electronic parking brake, and cruise control, providing occupants with peace of mind on every journey.

Buyers can personalize their Tata Punch EV with a choice of five distinctive colour options: Daytona Grey Dual Tone, Empowered Oxide Dual Tone, Fearless Red Dual Tone, Pristine White Dual Tone, and Seaweed Dual Tone.
