Kerala DGP: Initial Findings Suggest IEDs Used in Blasts

In the wake of explosions that rocked a prayer hall during a meeting in Kochi’s Kalamassery, resulting in one fatality and numerous injuries, Kerala’s Director General of Police (DGP) confirmed the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to trigger the blasts.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that IEDs were used to trigger the blasts. We are carrying out further investigations,” Kerala DGP Shaik Darvesh Saheb informed reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.
The DGP revealed that 36 injured individuals were receiving treatment in various hospitals in the district and assured a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Those injured were admitted to hospitals for treatment. The convention centre was hosting a regional meeting when the incident occurred. Our senior officers are on-site, and additional resources are being deployed. We are conducting a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and take strict action,” stated the DGP.
“We will be establishing a special team today upon my arrival at the site,” he added.
