In addition to Insight Partners, the Series D round saw participation from a cohort of esteemed investors, including Coatue, Battery Ventures, BOND, Gokul Rajaram (product leader at DoorDash), and Girish Mathrubootham (founder of Freshworks). Notably, existing investors CRV and Nexus Venture Partners also contributed to the round, underscoring their confidence in Postman’s growth trajectory.

Postman’s Journey

Established in 2014 by Abhinav Asthana, Abhijit Kane, and Ankit Sobti, Postman has emerged as a pivotal player in simplifying the application programming interface (API) workflow for developers and companies alike. With a user base comprising over 17 million developers and 500,000 organizations, Postman’s platform facilitates seamless collaboration and accelerated API development.

Utilization of Funds

Postman intends to leverage the Series D funding to bolster its workforce across various domains, including sales, marketing, product development, and engineering. Moreover, the company aims to nurture its global community of developers, extend support to students through innovative APIs, and actively contribute to open-source initiatives.

Impressive Funding Milestones

Having amassed a total of over $430 million across four funding rounds, Postman’s exponential growth trajectory is underscored by its previous funding milestones. Notably, the company raised $150 million in its Series C round in 2020, propelling its valuation to $2 billion. With the latest Series D round, Postman has surged past BrowserStack to claim the title of India’s highest-valued VC-funded SaaS startup.

India’s SaaS Landscape

Postman’s ascent to the summit of India’s VC-funded SaaS ecosystem underscores the nation’s burgeoning prowess in the technology domain. Alongside industry stalwarts like Zoho, Freshworks, Icertis, Druva, Zenoti, and ChargeBee, Postman joins the coveted ‘unicorn club’ of privately valued companies with valuations surpassing $1 billion. While Zoho stands as a non-venture capital-backed entity, its remarkable contributions to the SaaS landscape remain undisputed.

Postman’s remarkable journey epitomizes the spirit of innovation and resilience driving India’s thriving startup ecosystem. With its unwavering commitment to empowering developers and fostering collaboration, Postman is poised to redefine the future of API management on a global scale.
